THE NEW "AQUILA VAIA (VAIA EAGLE) di MARCESINA" by MARCO MARTALAR
After the Winged Dragon of Lavarone, in the Alpe Cimbra (province of Trento), and the She-wolf of Lagorai, here is another incredible work by the artist, this time in Lower Valsugana in the municipality of Grigno, on the plain of Marcesina: the Vaia Eagle of Marcesina. Like the other works by Marco Martalar, the Aquila was also built with the wood of trees felled by the Vaia storm which destroyed a large part of the woods in Trentino on the night of 29 October 2018. 1800 vines, 1500 pieces of roots, larch wood for a work of 7 meters in height and 1660 kilos. But be careful because the work will not last forever, the wood used, in fact, has not been treated and for this reason it is destined to disappear.

HOW TO GET TO THE VAIA EAGLE of MARCESINA
It is possible to reach Vaia Eagle of Marcesina by car only from Enego, following the signs for Enego/Marcesina. For those who are already in Trentino, the forest road that climbs from Grigno is temporarily closed with an active ZTL (from Trento the automatic choice of the navigator will make you follow this route and you will be forced to go back, following the signs for Enego/Marcesina. Approximately one hour and 50 minutes from Trento). From Grigno, L'Aquila can only be reached by bike or on foot (keep in mind that there are about 12 kilometers of uphill road).
WHERE TO PARK to see the VAIA EAGLE of MARCESINA
The car park is very close to the Vaia Eagle di Marcesina. You park right at the foot of the hill where the eagle soars and in two minutes you reach the work that dominates the plain of Marcesina.

HOW LONG TO GO TO SEE the VAIA EAGLE of MARCESINA
It takes about 45 minutes to get to the Vaia Eagle car park in Marcesina from Feltre. Once parked at the foot of the work, follow an easy path to reach the eagle in less than 5 minutes. For those coming from Trentino, the most convenient way would be to follow the signs that lead from the municipality of Grigno to Barricata, but the forest road is currently closed, complete with a ZTL and an active camera (12 kilometers that can only be covered by bike or on foot). Then, coming from Trento and following the signs for Enego/Marcesina, you will arrive at the Vaia Eagle car park in about an hour and 45 minutes.
WHEN TO GO TO SEE the VAIA EAGLE of MARCESINA
The best time to see the Eagle of Marcesina doesn't exist! It is a wonderful work in every season, like all the works of Marco Martalar. In summer and spring, the Vaia eagle dominates the green meadows of the Marcesina plain. In Autumn the landscape has truly magical colors and are perfect for photographs. In Winter, on the other hand, the magic of the snow that whitens the landscape around the Eagle makes everything even more evocative.
WHO IS MARCO MARTALAR?
The Vaia Eagle of Marcesina is not the first work of this kind born from the hands of the artist Marco Martalar. In 2020, in Mezzaselva di Roana on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, where he lives, Marco created a winged lion with 1500 pieces of shrubs and trees felled by Vaia, which became the largest winged lion in the world, three meters high and 4 long, 5. Immediately afterwards, the artist achieved incredible success thanks to the Drago di Vaia, in Lavarone, "a majestic work, a symbol of resilience and courage" and to the Lupa del Lagorai inaugurated in 2022.
